Akasa PowerMax 1000W Gaming PSU

Akasa's internal layout seems pretty good - in fact, very similar to the Cooler Master Silent Pro 700W. The heatsink fins provide significant coverage directly underneath the fan blades but they aren't specifically directed towards the vent at back and they don't provide the same degree of surface area that CWT 1,000W+ PSU heatsinks do.

There is a liberal helping of thermal paste between MOSFETs and heatsink but it's not the cleanest of applications. Generally though, the build quality is very good and nothing overtly wiggles about (so they are not prone to vibration or touching other components).


Akasa has gone with a 105'C capacitor, as opposed to the usual 85'C and the AC input cables are wrapped around a ferrite coil in an attempt to reduce voltage ripple - this is one of the cheapest ways to do it though.


The fan used is a Young Lin Tech (Taiwanese) and its model number is DFB132512H - a ball bearing, "high" flow fan similar to the one used in the Cooler Master, however that was a quieter sleeve bearing of "medium" flow.
